sam & greg : old town alexandria engagement

When we were in the planning stage for this engagement session, Sam specifically told me that Greg is not a morning person. But in the end, he came around and was ready for the session bright and early at 6 am one morning! I’m really glad they were both up for it since there was a beautiful morning light at Old Town that day and it was nice to walk around this quaint neighborhood with only a handful of joggers around, allowing us to use this cute location as our playground! Working with Sam and Greg for this session felt just like hanging out with old friends; they are both so sweet and caring and interested in learning about me as much as I was interested in learning about them! It was easy to see that their sweet nature is one of the qualities that brought them together. It was an absolute joy spending time with this lovely couple and I’m excited to do it again during their wedding in October!

rebecca & tristan : anchor inn wedding

Rebecca and Tristan were full of joy and laughter during their beautiful wedding at Anchor Inn. They set aside a large chunk of time for portraits before the ceremony (a wonderful idea!) so we went to Compass Pointe Golf Courses right down the street from Anchor Inn for photos. Rebecca looked absolutely incredible and I love the way that Tristan looked at his bride throughout the day! They reserved golf carts for everyone, including the photographers and their fun wedding party, so we all enjoyed driving around the golf course for photos before heading to the main venue. The intimate setting at Anchor Inn was adorned with their theme of “Seaside Romance,” which was accented by lovely seashells on the tables, cake, etc. One of the most memorable moments of this day was when Rebecca and Tristan surprised their guests with an impressive dance routine during their introduction into the reception room. They were awesome and the audience loved it! Everyone seemed to have so much fun dancing with high energy and excitement that I couldn’t help but wish I could join in! Here are some photos from their wedding and I hope Rebecca and Tristan will enjoy these during their honeymoon in sunny Aruba! =)

khanh & derrick : southern maryland engagement

Khanh and Derrick are one of the sweetest couples I’ve ever met! For their engagement session, they put in a ton of effort to make the event special and memorable for this wonderful time in their lives. They chose to have photos taken in various locations near Derrick’s home in Southern Maryland, which is 1.5 hours away from Khanh, and spent weekends scoping out locations together. When the day finally came, we began with photos in their wedding attire, though I won’t be able to post them until after their October wedding. For now, here is a sneak peek of that part with a photo of the bride and groom cupcakes (a compliment of Khanh’s friend). The remainder of the day consisted of a delightful picnic-themed engagement photos with cute details including a bike with flowers and a basket full of snacks and wine, followed by photos on the beach right before sunset. Khanh and Derrick happily spent weeks planning for their engagement session and it was so sweet to see the fruits of their labor, which came together so nicely! How adorable is this couple? =)

cathy & brian : strong mansion wedding

I kicked off the 2011 wedding season with a gorgeous wedding of Cathy and Brian at the scenic Strong Mansion. Despite unpredictable, frequent rain that April is known for, this couple was blessed with amazing weather (only low 70s and sunny) on this special occasion! Cathy looked absolutely stunning as a bride and her joy radiated in her infectious smile and laughter from morning to evening. Some of the fond memories I have from this day are the look of anticipation on Cathy and Brian’s faces as they were getting ready in separate locations, which was pleasantly revealed to one another during their sweet first-look before the ceremony. Despite standing in front of a large crowd, Cathy and Brian seemed to only focus on one another at the ceremony and really enjoy their moment. Many of their closest friends and family were at the wedding to witness this wonderful day and it was a pleasure being there to document such a lovely occasion! Congratulations to Cathy and Brian on a beautiful life together!

susan & wills : rockville town center engagement

Susan and Wills had to postpone their original engagement session date to another day, due to unfavorable weather. The new date happened to fall on Susan’s birthday and Wills took the opportunity to pamper his fiancée with a nice manicure/pedicure and delicious meals throughout the day. When we met in the afternoon at Rockville Town Center, a cute shopping area filled with locally-owned shops and restaurants, Susan and Wills were looking cute in their matching Burberry clothing and accessories, as Burberry is their favorite designer brand. I should also mention that they love this brand so much that the Burberry pattern is being incorporated into their upcoming wedding (Wills is a graphic designer and he’s doing all of the designs for the wedding invitations, place cards, etc)!

This sweet couple enjoyed this beautiful afternoon by strolling through the center and stopping for frozen yogurt and sipping on sangria at their favorite restaurant, La Tasca. Looking back on these images, the photos seem to capture their relaxing date on this special occasion. I really enjoyed spending time with Susan and Wills and seeing how much fun they had with one another! Aren’t they adorable? =)
